Les Bains Guerbois, a renowned 19th century spa and first incarnation of world-famous nightclub “Les Bains Douches” before becoming the Hotel Les Bains, is being reborn in the 21st century. It once again honors its legacy as a Parisian temple of well-being and beauty.
After launching its line of Eaux de parfum in 2017, Les Bains Guerbois eternalizes while reinventing the tradition of this brand, born in 1885, with the opening of a space for exclusive and innovative treatments and massages inside its original establishment now known as the Hotel Les Bains.
A means for Jean-Pierre Marois, the man behind the Maison’s rebirth, “to offer yet another experience that perpetuates the spirit of this mythical place in all its facets, day or after dark, and across the ages, through an invitation to all the senses.”
Les Bains Guerbois was one of the first-ever urban “spas”, bringing together facial and body treatments, massage rooms, steam rooms, Turkish, Japanese, and Russian baths, hydrotherapy, steam and sulfur baths and showers, a swimming pool, pedicures and manicures, a hair salon, as well as a bar and restaurant, all under one roof.
The spa was created in 1885 by the Guerbois family, already owners of the famous eponymous café immortalized by Manet and Zola. It was at Les Bains Guerbois that the public baths of ancient rituals and from the world over, synonymous with progress at the time, took on a more noble and refined purpose.
The address, one of unparalleled luxury and modernity at the time, enjoyed an outstanding reputation for the quality of its treatments. Water mixed with plants and perfumes to be used for hygiene, a concept only recently introduced by Louis Pasteur, but also for a more elegant, voluptuous purpose. The bath and shower – which had only existed for ten years – and especially the sophisticated treatments that surrounded them, were perceived and enjoyed as a new pleasure, a pleasure that made one more ‘beautiful’.
In a secret apartment nestled in the heart of the hotel, the Les Bains Guerbois spa features a relaxation area, a lounge devoted to the enjoyment of the Maison’s fragrances, and two treatment rooms located in boudoirs on either side of a large, half-moon window.
Fans of the Les Bains Guerbois Eaux de parfums, or those wishing to discover them, can take advantage of in-person private sessions with the brand’s experts.
